Lonely

Lonely

The inspiration for Lonely came to me one evening when I was looking through some old pictures of my equine friend, Cratic.  Years ago I helped a dressage trainer friend of mine, Lisa Hunt, with training and shows. Cratic was one of the horses we worked with and after a while I fell in love with him. He was a gentle soul with loads of talent and willingness to work. His only “fault” was that he belonged to someone else.

After a few years Cratic was sold. I personally came to see him last time with Lisa and we got him ready to travel to his new home. Before giving him a bath, we let him out in a large cow pen/riding rink to stretch his legs. He stood there, alone in the pen, looking wistfully off into the distance. I shot a picture of him and looking at it that evening many years later made me think of how much I missed him and how much the pose he struck reminded me of how I felt without him – lonely.
